The Almerimar Golf Course is the oldest course in the province of Almeria. It was opened in 1976 and designed by Gary Player and Rob Kirby. The Course combines Palm trees with water hazards, wide fairways and lush vegetation. In the beginning the Golf Course had 18 holes with Par 72. In 2005 the Course was extended with another 9 holes to a generous Golf Course with 27 holes. In 2006 the far parts of the original 18 holes were improved. This project is due to be completed in November 2007. 
The course covers an area of 802,000 square metres. It offers enormous play possibilities and challenges.The Course has a generous practice area with chipping green with 3 exercise holes, exercise shelters and a putting green with 9 exercise holes.
Golf lovers will enjoy the wide fairways and is suitable for all levels of players. It demands a high level of concentration from experienced Golfers but can also be mastered quite easily by beginners. The water surfaces and skillfully placed bunkers can be played well. The 100 metres over the lake to hole 1 with Par-3 makes this a challenging hole.
Almerimar is approximately 40 minutes drive from Almeria Airport on the N340 and is approx 30kms from the City of Almeria.
